After Local Anaesthetic
Local Anaesthetic injections usually last for 2 to 4 hours. Although part of your mouth will feel very different, it will look normal.
During the time your mouth is numb, you should:
- Avoid biting the numb area
- Avoid eating
- Avoid hot drinks as you may burn yourself
- Avoid smoking for the same reason.
Some anaesthetic injections numb the tongue and lip as well as the teeth. This is a change in sensation and does not stop the normal working of your mouth. However you may feel you speak a little differently. This will disappear as soon as the anaesthetic wears off.
