Following Fillings

Newly filled teeth:

  • Can be a little sore for a day or two. Take painkillers (Paracetamol, Ibuprofen) if necessary.
  • Can be temperature sensitive. This is especially noticeable with metal fillings and can last for 2to 3 weeks.
  • If the tooth does not settle down after 4 weeks, please contact the practice.
  • If the tooth becomes very painful to hot but not cold, please contact the practice.
  • If you find your bite is high or heavy on the new filling, please contact the practice for an appointment as this can be adjusted.

Metal Fillings

These take several hours to fully set, so you are asked NOT to eat on that side for the rest of the day.

Tooth Coloured Fillings

These are set once the dentist has finished and can be eaten on once the anaesthetic has worn off.
