Veneers
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-coloured materials designed to cover the front side of teeth to improve the overall appearance of teeth. They are made of a thin layer of porcelain. The veneer is bonded to the tooth structure with tooth-coloured resin cement. In most cases a thin layer of tooth has to be removed before the veneer can be made to ensure the profile of the teeth after fitting is not overlarge.
Veneers have the advantage over crowns that they require far less tooth to be drilled away. Although very thin, once bonded onto the tooth they are strong enough to tolerate normal chewing activity.
